Things You Can Learn From People On A-List

First of all, some of you may need me to explain what is the A-list. The A-list is a term which refers to the people who are at the top of their game, either because they are the most connected, the most bankable, the most knowledgeable… An A-lister is generally someone who is widely recognized as being an authority in their field. To take a clear example: Shoemoney and John Chow are part of the A-list in the Make Money Online niche.

Meeting and getting to connect with someone on the A-list is not something that happens every other day, so if you ever have the opportunity, don’t miss it. You will certainly learn a lot just by being around an A-lister.

Here are a couple defining traits of most A-list members:

Attitude: The A-list members usually have a particular attitude. They generally are optimistic people who exhale self-confidence. I do not mean in any way that they might be arrogant or rude. The A-list members generally expect things to happen a certain way, not hoping that it would.

Vision: All the people on the A-list have a vision. They wouldn’t be where they’re standing right now if they didn’t have that vision for themselves and for their business. The vision allows them to achieve great success and keeps them going toward other successes for the future. If you want to reach any kind of success, you need to have a plan, whatever the business you’re in.

Values: This one is closely linked to the vision part. No matter how many self-improvement and business books you read, the best way to understand what it takes to reach the A-list status is by hanging out with some people who already made it to the list. All of the A-list members are people with values, whether they are involved in their religion, in their family life, in their neighborhood… These values are what keep the A-list members on the right track to success. Without these values they would probably get lost on their way to success.

The tricky part is figuring out how to meet or interact with an A-lister without being annoying.

Really it’s not that complicated. These people are human-beings like everyone else… You just have to try not to be asking anything from them right from the start.

It’s true, you can learn much and more from an A-lister, their confident attitude is definitely infectious, and you can learn all their tips and tricks that help them be so successful. It’s the beauty of networking; learning and moving up by association. Great article!

This is exactly what I need in my life: To network and meet A-list people. I know the power that can have for your career, I just have a hard time knowing where and when to do this, know what I mean? Anybody got any pointers?

See above. You’d be surprised how easy it can be to network. The best thing to do is get out there. Find events and go to them, with a stack of business cards and just talk. Talk to everyone. It doesn’t even have to be related to your line of work, you could talk about movies, sports. Socialize, be likeable, be yourself, and you’re in.

Yeah I mean I get the concept, but I have a hard time finding A-list people. I mean, what events should I be going to and how do I find out about them?

I would say the best way is to become friends with people who have similar blogs, and go to events they go to, meet their circle. Also you can check your local chamber of commerce and see what events are happening near you. You may have to pay to get in, but you’re almost sure to meet people of worth there.

I love this. Reminds me of a great quote I read today from a post of one of the A-listers in my network, so inspiring: “Don’t start a company unless it’s an obsession and something you love.If you have an exit strategy, it’s not an obsession.”

Yes! Well, technically the guy I was quoting, Albert Smith, is from Austin, TX, he’s the Owner/CEO of the Unofficial SXSW Festival Events and Parties, as well as a music producer, and he posted a link to Mark Cuban’s 12 Rules for Startups with that quote. That’s so funny that you knew it right away!

That’s a great quote! It’s very forward and commanding, definitely sounds like an A-list person for sure.

I agree with Mike, just being around A-list people is going to be infectious. Their values, attitudes, and drive are going to be infectious. And you’re right, it’s one thing to read about self-help and read about A-listers, but the best way to actually become the best is to spend some face time with these people, and learn all you can.

If anyone is lacking on the “values” side of things, then they need to definitely re-assess their career. Values are the fundamental building-blocks to having a successful career, gotta make sure you have the right ones, that you have what it takes!

Telling it like it is. You’re definitely right. You’ve got to set your values straight before anything.

It’s not an easy thing, of course, to find out and to communicate further with someone from A-list, but still it’s all possible, for this we only have to have strong desire

This is definitely not something that happens everyday, but it could be. You should always have business cards on hand, and it helps to be a sociable person, you never know who you’re standing in line next to! Just talk to people, and be yourself. I promise you, the more you do this, the more comfortable you will be, and the more A-listers you’re bound to run into!

Set your vision and values and that will define your attributes of A list
