So, the secret to finding new subscribers is to learn to create a sense of anticipation on your blog. Something that makes the reader feel sure there’s something good coming up and he doesn’t want to miss it.

How Do You Create Anticipation?

The five methods mentioned above are all good ways to build anticipation, but it helps to include stronger language in your call to action. Here are 4 examples:

1. Subscribe to my newsletter now. Each issue packed with tons of useful tips, exclusively for subscribers and you don’t want to miss a single issue!

2. Over the next 10 days I’ll be running a series of blog posts about XYZ topic. If I were you I’d click here to subscribe now to make sure you don’t miss a single post!

3. Next week, I’ll be giving away a free iPad for the guest post that receives the most comments in an exclusive contest for subscribers only. Subscribe now so you can get in on all the fun!

4. I post 15 new recipes every week. If you like this recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies, just wait until you see the rest. Subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss a single taste-tempting treat!

While you may not always be able to use one of these examples you can also work to build general sense of anticipation. Let your readers know you’ll be blogging about a special topic next week, or you’re working on a case study you’ll be publishing next month.

Remember, in every case your visitor subscribed because he’s anticipating something in the future from your blog, so it’s not about the method you use to hook your subscribers – it’s all about the promise of more of your high-quality content ini the future.

  1. I never thought of using anticipation but it is common sense to do so. I know I like the suspense of what I’m going to get on top of that.
