Everyone wants to see their business succeed. This can be the case whether you are offering products, services or simply a blog for your visitors. You want the numbers to grow and your site to eventually become profitable. The fact is that it takes time to achieve that goal. However, it can be done. If you have been struggling for far too long without any success then chances are you are doing things wrong. It may be time to start over and see if you can change the outcome this time around.

struggling entrepreneur to successful

The main way to see success is to know how you define it. You cannot do this if you have no goals. Before you ever start working on your site you should set up your goals. These can be short term goals like acquiring readers or long term goals like making a significant income from your site. In fact it is best if you have a good combination of both types of goals. This allows you to see small successes along the way and to always be able to measure how well you are doing. Be realistic when you make your goals. If you expect to be entirely surviving on the income from your site in a couple of months you are likely to be quite disappointed.

Once you have made those goals it is time to work on achieving them. This means actually putting in the work required. Simply having a website will not make you successful. You need to know what you have to put in for those goals to be reached. This could be adding products for sale or creating stellar content. Whatever it is, you need to do it. It is also fairly certain that you will have to work daily. Thinking that you can ignore the site and your goals for days at a time is a quick way to give up your potential success.

Along the way you have to have the right promotion. If you do not promote your site properly then there will be no traffic to make you successful. With all of the websites that are online, simply having a domain name will not earn you visitors. Instead you have to make sure you go where the visitors are and bring them to you. This can be from visiting other sites, creating ads, advertising through social media or any number of other means. Bringing people in to your site is the best way to see the success you have been wanting.

Success is something that anyone can achieve if they do things the right way. Having goals to measure yourself by, working hard to achieve them and promoting your business at all times will help you on your way to success. The more you work at it, the more likely you are to become successful. Then you simply have to continue the process to maintain your success and you will see that your venture was worthwhile and productive.

This goes really well with the post where you listed your stats, very nice.

I think it’s definitely true that you need to have a combination of goals. That’s way more measurable than just some blanket “I’ve made it!” statement; that can be very elusive.

    1. John

Very true, Dana. I feel that there is no such thing as “I’ve made it.” There is always more to be done, more to learn, more to build, there is no end to your success. If you think there is, and you try to quantify it, you will never find true happiness. Happiness lies in the pursuit.

Promotion and marketing will always be key. It doesn’t matter if you have the absolute best service/product, for the best price, if people don’t know about it, no one will buy.

    1. Samie

You’re absolutely right, Mike. You could be selling a singing time machine, and if no one knows about it, or if the information is not out there, no one will ever buy!

    2. Anon

I will buy your singing time machine.

It’s so strange to read this, just last night I sat down and wrote my goals for the next 5 years of my life. Some were big like “Find peace of mind” and some were more immediate like “Take a salsa-dancing class” but it was so nice to just have a list, to have a plan. I’m excited for the future, for sure.

That is soooo awesome! I love it!! Sarah, you and this article have inspired me to list all of my goals too! And I’m going to carry them around with me everywhere so that I can always remember where I am in terms of my goals. I love this!!

That’s so wonderful! This post is so inspiring to everyone! :)

The third paragraph really hits a chord with me. This is the most important step. You can dream the biggest dreams out of anyone, but if you don’t work for them, they will never come true. This can be said no matter what you want to do in life, you have to be willing to do the time. This is very good advice, thanks for posting.

Nothing in this life comes easy, nothing is for free. You have to be willing to work at it, and the harder you work, the more you’ll get out of life.
