Money Influence: Would You Blog Differently If You Had Money?
My dad was always fond of saying things like, “If you want to be the boss, act like the boss” and “If you want to be successful, act like you already are.”
So it only makes sense, I suppose, to go a step further and say, “If you want to make money with your blog, blog like you already do.”
What about you?
Do you blog like you already make money, or do you think you’d do something differently if you did?
Ask a dozen bloggers if they’d blog differently if they had money and you’ll probably get two different answers.
Some will say, “Heck, yeah I’d do it differently. I’d outsource all my content and go play on the beach all day” or some variation on that theme.
More serious bloggers might say, “I wouldn’t do anything differently at all. In fact, I love blogging so much I’d do it even if I wasn’t making any money at all.” These bloggers are pulling your leg.
They’re either already making boatloads of money or they think you’re a gullible dweeb.
Overall, blogging may be a real trip to Disneyland, but it’s still a lot of work.
If you’re blogging to make money but you’re not, then you’re not having the time of your life.
In fact, it feels like you’re in the pits with four flat tires and an empty gas tank and there’s only seconds to go.
If you aren’t making money with your blog you’re doing everything but having a jolly good time.
You’re working night and day to produce quality content.
You’re submitting guest posts, engaging in social media, and researching keywords.
You’re tweaking your theme, teaching yourself copywriting and learning about html.
And if you’ve also quit your job you’re stressing about money problems.
Chances are, whether you realize it or not, this stress and worry is reflected in your blog.
Of course you’d blog differently if you had money because you wouldn’t have to worry about making money with your blog.
Your Mission Is To Tell, Not Sell
Bloggers who aren’t making money have a tendency to pull out all the stops when it comes to selling.
Every post and every page of their blog has a call to action that includes the words “Click Here” and “Buy It Now” and “Quantities Are Limited so ACT FAST!”
But your readers don’t come to your blog for a sales pitch.
They come for information and you’re expert insights into your niche.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tell your readers everything they want to know about your topic and keep them on your blog.
As long as you’ve highlighted a pathway to your sales page or squeeze page they’ll find it when they’re ready to buy.
If you’re not making money with your blog then you need to take a look at your content.
