How Do I Make Money Fast Blogging?
I know what you’re thinking: Is this a trick question? Because if I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times – Nobody makes $25,000 in a weekend with a blog, right? But let’s assume the person asking this question is serious. I suppose I’d have to follow it up with two questions of my own: How much money do you want to make, and what do you mean by “fast”?
Let me start by saying that I’ve made $5,000 in a weekend with my blog and I know bloggers who’ve made $10,000 or $100,000 or more in a weekend. So yes, it’s possible to make money fast blogging. However…
Nobody is going to hand you that kind of money just because they like your blog. You’re going to have to give them something in exchange for their money. To make that kind of money that usually means you’re going to have to sell your own product or service. And that means one of two things:
- You’re going to have to spend time creating a product first so you have something to sell
- You’re going to have to spend time performing a service after you’ve made the sale
Either way – you may have picked up $10,000 in one weekend, but you’re still going to have to do a lot of work, either before or after, to earn it.
Aside from creating the product or performing the service, you also need to consider how much time you’re going to have to spend generating enough traffic to make $10,000 in one weekend. If the product or service you’re promoting sells for $49, that means you’re going to need to make 204 sales. At industry average conversion rates that equates to at least 2600 targeted visitors in one weekend.
There are several ways to achieve this level of targeted traffic but they all involve spending either large amounts of time or large amounts of money.
For example, you might already have a blog that gets 10,000 targeted visitors every day. You could conceivable release a new product today and make $100,000 this weekend with that kind of traffic. But how long did it take you to reach that level of targeted traffic? You see what I mean? Yes, you can do it in a weekend, but how much time did you spend working behind the scenes beforehand?
Conversely, then, the less time you put into your project, the less money you’ll be able to make. The faster you want to make money, the fewer options you’ll have and the less money you’ll be able to make.
You could conceivably launch a blog today and make money selling your freelance writing services tomorrow. However, if you don’t have any writing samples to show people then you’re not going to be able to charge as much money as someone who’s spent years developing an online portfolio and promoting his writing service around the Web.
You can also build a blog in a weekend and sell it on Flippa but, again, unless you’ve spent a lot of time learning about what makes blogs valuable to a buyer you’ll be lucky to make enough to cover your listing costs. The only way to make money fast blogging is to spend more time… blogging… so you can develop a targeted audience and create a product or service that meets their needs.
