Dukeo: Exciting 3rd Month Online!
Dukeo is now 3 months old! Once again, I’ve been able to stick to my goal of posting some fresh content every single day. I even managed to make a few extra posts. As expected, the whole blog management and blog promotion is taking me a lot of time and I’ve had to slow down some of my affiliate campaigns. Hopefully, this won’t have any impact on my earnings. On overall, Dukeo is a very exciting experience and a lot of things happened in this last month.

First things first. You may remember that a few weeks ago, I have launched a sub-website with the intent of helping people with SEO. This project puts together all the fresh posts in the Internet Marketing industry so you can post comments on them easily and build backlinks faster. While, the service is still available there: News.Dukeo, I’ve had to change it’s homepage.
The homepage of News.Dukeo was previously a News Aggregator page, but after discussing with the owner of AffBuzz, it appeared that removing this aggregator was the condition to get me onto AffBuzz. In our industry, we have to react fast and that’s exactly what I did. After evaluating the pros and cons of each possibility, I decided to quickly remove the aggregator to get onto AffBuzz.
That’s Official, Dukeo is on AffBuzz !
“Who is” Post Series And Amazing Feedback
On the subject of positive things for Dukeo, it has been featured in another big blog in the industry. You can read the full article on Zac Johnson’s blog: How Will You Stand Out from the Crowd?
Another very positive reaction was Missy Ward’s one. It appears that she really liked her caricature and “Who is” post as she has twitted 2 or 3 times about it as well as posted it on Facebook.
The “Who is” post is getting Dukeo’s a lot of exposure and that’s a very very good thing!
Since its beginning, I’ve been compiling data about all the reactions it received and their direct or indirect impact on Dukeo. Before posting this live case-study, I was waiting to have enough data (posting it after 1 or 2 weeks would have been pointless and irrelevant).
It’s now been 12 weeks since this post series started and while I would like to wait even longer before explaining the whole strategy I developed to grow Dukeo from complete scratch, I have come to a point where it will be interesting to take a step back and analyze what has been going on.
The post explaining the whole process I followed from the seed idea to being featured by a lot of the big guns in the industry will be posted within 2 weeks.
About My Posting Schedule And Post Content
I’ve received mixed feedback about my posting schedule and post content, so I would like to explain what’s going on behind the scenes at Dukeo.
Some people started arguing that the posts on Dukeo are not always top-notch quality. You have to understand that in the process of launching Dukeo, I’ve had a hard time taking a decision about post frequency. As Dukeo is brand-new (3 months old is nothing for a blog), I need to get the interest from the visitors, but also from the search engines and the best way to do that is to post as frequently as possible.
I know that some posts are shorter than others, I know that some posts are not delivering a huge quantity of information, but I am building the online presence of Dukeo, one step at a time, and the process of building strong foundations doesn’t happen in the blink of an eye. Once I’ll get a decent number of pages indexed in search engines on a wide-enough variety of subject, I may decrease my posting frequency in order to write only longer, more-detailed posts. But for now, that’s not my point. My current goal is for Dukeo to become part of my (and your) daily routine, and changing habits takes time.
Dukeo’s April Traffic Stats
Within a few days, I’ll be posting the traffic stats for Dukeo. You’ll be able to see if I managed to keep growing Dukeo’s audience steadily.
Dukeo’s Blog April Earnings Stats
A part of Dukeo’s case study is to show that in 2011 you can still start a blog from complete scratch and reach a decent income from it. So far, I haven’t been posting about the money made through this blog. I have a feeling that it was a mistake because it would have pushed me even further to grow Dukeo. This is the reason why during next week, you’ll be able to read the first Monthly Earnings Stats post.
As you can see there are a lot of exciting things to come on Dukeo: The full caricature case-study from idea to success, Monthly Traffic Stats, Monthly Earnings Stats, and of course some new “Who is” posts!
I almost forgot to talk about the new blog header… The small logo was not 100% satisfying, so I decided to make it bigger and more blue. Let me know what you think about it ;)
