Doubling Affiliate Sales: 3 Neat Tricks!

I’ve always enjoyed affiliate marketing. Sure, you only make a percentage of each sale, but look at the trade offs. All you have to do is find a reliable network, choose a good product, set up a blog and start selling, with no worries about inventory or delivery or customer service. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt if you could make a little more money… Here are three ways to double your affiliate sales.

Don’t Sell… Pre-Sell

When you’re an affiliate marketer it’s not your job to try to sell the product, it’s the advertiser’s job. He creates the sales page and it’s your job to send the traffic. The best way to do that is to stop trying to sell the product and focus on giving your readers information about the product. Here are some examples:

Your information and personal stories will go a long way toward pre-selling your readers on the product. Then, when you do send them to the advertiser’s sales page with your affiliate link, they’ll be more likely to buy.

Promote More Expensive Products

If you’re already making sales then you’re doing something right. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Instead, just pull out that product and replace it with one that earns you a higher commission. Use a simple Search and Replace plug-in to replace the product name and links to sales pages and you’re good to go.

Better yet, replace the product with one that you created and you won’t have to settle for a small commission on each sale, you’ll get to keep it all.

Contact Your Affiliate Manager

If you’ve already had some success with affiliate sales, contact your affiliate account manager. Every network has account managers who sit at a desk all day long just waiting for your call. They’re paid on commission just like you are so if they can help you increase your sales they make more money, too.

Account managers can help you choose more profitable products, suggest different promotion methods that you might not be aware of, and guess what… they can even increase your commission percentage on the products you’re already promoting.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the day-to-day tasks that we can’t see the forest for the trees. In many cases it just takes one little change and you can double your affiliate earnings over night.

    I just launched my product and was unaware there were affiliate managers. Is this the case with Clickbank? Thanks for the information :)

    1. As far as I know, Clickbank doesn’t have Account Managers for Affiliates (or maybe they have only for big affiliates, I don’t really know because I don’t push big numbers with them).
