Custom WordPress Theme: A Simple Blogging Tip

When it comes to blogging, no software is more widely used than WordPress. Not only do they provide free services for those starting out, those who want a domain can purchase one and still take advantage of WordPress. You will find that most bloggers, including the most successful, use this service. The problem lies when bloggers choose a theme that is generic and they all begin to look alike. Nothing stands out and you become just another blogger. This is why it is always best to start your blog using a custom WordPress theme.

custom wordpress theme

You want your blog to be known as unique. You have spent countless hours conducting research to find the right niche. You know it is in demand and you have expertise in the field. You are ready to go. Then you set out to design your site and choose a standard or free theme. Immediately you took away all of the work you had done. Your site has lost all of its unique qualities and become just another blog. If you used a custom theme this would not be the case.

Your goals are to impress your readers and you cannot do that if you look just like the competition. Instead you want a design that stands out and makes them take notice. They should automatically know when they visit your site that it belongs to you. The more customized your theme is, the better it will look and the more original it will be. It can easily become a part of your overall identity as you create a logo and other details to match it. Your customers will never doubt which blog they are on and you will never have to fear being too similar to the competitors. The beauty of a custom theme is that it is designed solely for you.

This gives you the opportunity to brand yourself. You are creating your brand from the moment you choose your name. That brand will forever be your identity and you want your theme to go along with that. Whether you choose to make it simple or complex, it will forever be a way that others identify your site. The colors, the layout and even the graphics will all become part of the brand. This is part of the beauty that comes with a custom theme. You can decide what you want your brand to be and then have the theme designed around that.

WordPress is by far the most popular service for bloggers. One of the benefits of using it is that you can design it how you see fit. It may be an investment up front to have your theme designed for you, but in the long-term it will be worthwhile. You will have stood out in the crowd, impressed your readers and created your own brand. Believe it or not, you will find it is much easier to be successful when you have achieved all of those things.

The look of things is so so important, I totally agree. I mean, this is what could potentially make or break a reader’s interest in your blog! It’s gotta be catchy, and one-of-a-kind. Great advice!

What about for someone who may not be so great at those kind of things? Design and customizing etc. I think some people would prefer something like a pre-made theme that they don’t have to worry about. At some point content has to speak for itself, right?

That’s why at that point it may be worthwhile to hire someone to design a website for you. The thing is, any 10 year old in the world could start a blog and have the same layout as you if you choose a pre-made one. It’s just not as professional looking, but in the end it’s all totally up to you.

I guess you may be right! I always thought it wouldn’t hurt to at least start with a premade one and then maybe later on once it becomes more successful get a designer to do it professionally, but maybe it’s better to start with that at the beginning!

Women know it best: Style is everything! Your style speaks volumes about you, especially if that is your readers’ first impression of you, you want to make sure to be looking sharp!

So true! Ladies know better than anybody that style matters. It is the first thing people see and believe it or not they do judge you by it. That’s why no matter how much I am tempted I never go to the grocery store in my PJs!

I think you’ve nailed it in this post: Originality is branding, and it is crucial to being memorable to your readers. The more unique you can be, the better!
