Blog Theme Display: Test Everything (Twice)
When you are launching a new website, a very important thing to do is testing the way your blog theme is displayed for all your potential visitors. I’m going to focus on the way to test the display of a blog because that’s what Dukeo is: a blog. This stuff is generally overlooked by people who are just starting online.
People who are newcomers in online business are not always familiar with this notion and this is for a very basic reason. When you build a shop in brick and mortar, once the shop is built, all your visitors are seeing it the same way. But for an online venture, whether it be a website or a blog, it is a little more complicated.
Not all the people are using the same software to browse the internet. If you just bought a windows-powered computer, you are probably using Internet Explorer. In case you are the happy owner of a Mac, you must be browsing using Safari. But it would be too easy if there was only two possibilities. There are several different softwares that your visitors could be using: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome… And these are just the “big” ones. You can also add the mobile versions of these browsers for people surfing on their Mobile Phones.
Various Web-Browser Installation
If you are using a PC, which is my case (I’m still resisting the iMac/MaxBook frenzy), you can already install the various browsers on your computer: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Opera. Personally, I only installed Firefox and Chrome because most of my visitors are using either one of these two or Internet Explorer.
Once you have installed these browser on your computer, you can test your website whenever you make a change in their layout or change your blog theme, in order to make sure that it is properly displayed for everyone.
Another interesting tool that you can use is called Browser Shots. This website is very easy to use. You can just input your website Url in the box then click on the button while leaving all the settings to default. You will then be presented with snapshots of your website taken with various versions of a lot of web browsers. This way, you can make sure that your website looks ok for all your visitors.
