Perfect Article: The 9 Keys to Reach Perfection

If you know the perfect blog post is going to bring in the traffic and make your blog super-sticky, then it only makes sense to strive for perfection with every single post. It’s hard to come by, but here are nine elements of the perfect post. See how many you can include in your next post.

1. The Title

A perfect post is one that gets lots of attention because it’s just that great. But, before any post can get any attention, it has to get found, and for that, a great title is crucial. The most-shared content and the content that gets the most search engine traffic is the content that has a killer headline.

Optimize your titles with your keyword. The best length is 10 words or less. And “list” posts and “How-To” posts are the most popular overall.

2. Sub-Headings

Use sub-headings to highlight topic changes and key points to make your post scannable. Bullet points, numbered lists, bold, and italics are also things you can use to make your post easier to read and absorb, which makes it easier for your visitor to realize he just read the perfect blog post.

3. SEO

Optimize your post for the search engine by using your keyword, long-tail keywords and synonyms. A perfectly optimized post will sound natural, not contrived.

4. Visual Aids

Increase reader engagement by using images, videos, infographics and other visual aids inside the post. Visual elements also make your posts more shareable. Readers are more apt to share posts that include a strong visual element.

5. Call To Action Inside The Post

Include a call to action inside the body of your content. Use an anchor text link to lead readers to relevant content in your archives or encourage subscriptions. This works best when placed above the fold.

6. The Sidebar

After your visitors read your remarkable content the next thing you want them to do is subscribe and follow. Put your opt-in form at the top of your sidebar and follow it with your social media follow buttons.

7. Sharing Buttons

You worked hard creating that perfect post. Now, make it easy for your readers to share it by placing social sharing buttons at the end of each post.

8. Links To Related Content

Use a related posts plug-in that automatically places links to relevant content at the end of each post. Your readers might not instantly love the first post they land on, but if you lead them to a few more they’ll be sharing and subscribing in no time.

9. Optimized For Comments

Encourage more comments by making it as easy as possible for your readers. Some commenting systems like LiveFyre allow your readers to connect their comments to their Facebook or Twitter accounts. However, your readers may prefer to keep their commenting strictly to your blog. If that’s the case, you may want to stick with your blog’s default comment system and make sure you’re using a program to prevent comment spam.
