There are dozens of things you can do to increase your affiliate revenue. One of the most obvious is just build more blogs. But there’s an old saying I like to try to live by: Work smarter, not harder. It takes a lot of time and a lot of hard work to build new blogs. Why bother? There’s a much easier, faster way to get the job done.
Build Relationships Right From The Start
A lot of new bloggers go sign up at Clickbank or Commission Junction, choose a couple of products to promote, and hope for the best. But, did you know that almost every affiliate network has account managers? And these account managers are happy to help you build your business from the ground up.
When you set up your very first blog and apply to your first affiliate network, chances are you’re going to be rejected because you don’t have a track record. Even bloggers who’ve been in the business for a while, who’ve already proven they can make sales, can be rejected the first time around. If you are, don’t take it personally. Just contact the account manager. If you don’t know who it is – ask.
Account managers are paid a commission, just like you are. So it behooves them to work with you, answer your questions, and help you get started.
What Can An Account Manager Do For You?
Recommend Products: One of the first questions an account manager always asks is, “Which verticals do you prefer?” That means he wants to know what niche you like to work in. He knows you’re going to do your best work promoting products you like and you’re familiar with.
Recommend Promotion Methods: He’ll also ask you how you prefer to promote. Do you have a list, or do you like to use PPC ads or social media, and so on. Every blogger has a favorite method for driving traffic and some products do better with one type of promotion over another. A good account manager knows which is which and he’ll be able to match a product to your preferences. Sometimes it’s even a product you never would have thought of.
Increase Your Commission: Here’s a little secret: Those affiliate marketers out there who make thousands of dollars a week are all making a higher commission rate than you are because they’ve developed relationships with their account managers. Some of them are even promoting killer products that you’ll never have access to, simply because they know who to talk to.
You might be making 15 percent commission on each sale of XYZ product, but a top affiliate who’s done the legwork starts off at 50 percent or more.
The fastest way to increase your affiliate revenue is to develop a relationship with your account manager, right from the very beginning. He can help you choose the best product for your traffic and he can advise you on the best way to promote it. And if you follow his advice, he can also raise your commission.
