You are most likely being marketed with crap over and over again! It’s as simple as that. Remember the last time you’ve received an email from your favorite guru and said to yourself: “This tool is exactly what I need to start making money”. If you don’t know about the concept of Wants and Needs, this will change your life!
Wants and Needs is a widely used concept in modern economy. Needs would be defined as goods or services that are required. Wants are goods or services that are not necessary but that we desire or wish for.
Basically, there are just 4 true needs:
- food
- clothing
- shelter
- health care
All the other things that you can possibly think of are Wants. Of course, as part of our marketer jobs, we can try to induce the idea that a Want is a Need for consumers, to make them think that they really need it.
Now, let’s apply this concept of Wants and Needs to the development of an online business because that’s what Dukeo is about after all! In my opinion, the basic Needs that we have are as follow:
- a place to work (comfortable so you can spend countless hours developing your business)
- a good internet connection (a shitty internet connection can really take your productivity down)
- a computer powerful enough to run smoothly all the software you need to work efficiently
- time
Do you really need this last course that your preferred guru is trying to sell you? Do you really need that tool claiming it will make you rich overnight? You might fall for this once, but if you are falling for it over and over again, then you definitely need to ask yourself the good questions and focus on what is needed for you to succeed!
