The Easiest Way to Make Money Online

In the years I’ve spent working online I’ve read probably 50 bazillion blog posts that tell you the easiest way to make money online is to… And they all tell you something different. Affiliate marketing, consulting, freelance writing, content marketing, you name it, I’ve heard it all. What’s the answer? Let’s take a look.

The Easiest Way To Make Money Online Is…

Whatever works best for you. I know, that’s not the answer you were looking for, but let me explain before you start booing me off the stage.

The Internet is a vast marketplace cluttered with millions upon millions of blogs and websites, all trying in some way to make money. Many of these sites will fail, and those who do succeed will do so because they’ve all chosen to take the easiest path to the top. But that doesn’t mean they’ve all chosen the same path, and it certainly doesn’t mean there’s only one path.

Finding Your Own Easy Path

I recently read a blog post that said consulting was the easiest way to make money online. All you have to do, said this blogger, was find out what you’re good at and let people know you’re available for coaching sessions.

That’s all well and good, but consulting is only “easy” if you enjoy that type of work. You’re working with people one-on-one, analyzing their practices and offering them advice, and you only get paid when you’re actually consulting someone. You don’t have that 24/7-365 income like you’d have with an affiliate blog. Again, if that’s the way you want to make money, then there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.

But what if you don’t like that up-close-and-personal involvement? That would make a consulting business a real drag. And what if you don’t like analyzing other people’s problems? That would make it difficult, too. And what if you want to earn money 24 hours a day? If you were a consultant, you’d have to actually work 24 hours a day. So you see, consulting is only the easiest way to make money online if that’s something you really enjoy.

Now, let’s say you take a few classes and learn some techniques and skills that would make it easier for you to analyze those problems and work with people and offer them valuable advice. Let’s say you’re even knowledgeable enough now that you can increase your consulting fees so you don’t have to work 24 hours a day. And let’s go a step further and say that you now find you truly enjoy consulting. In fact, this really is the easiest way to make money online.

Maybe it is, but it’s only because you did the legwork. You got the additional education. You learned the skills and techniques you needed to be a good consultant, and now it’s easy. You should have done this years ago.

Every Path Will Eventually Be Easy

No matter how you choose to make money online you’re going to have a lot to learn. If you’re a consultant in the offline world and you decide to take it to the Web, you’re still going to have to learn how to build a website, how to promote your site, how to find your target audience and how to compete with other online consultants. And then you’re going to have to learn to adapt your skills for online delivery.

It’s easy to adapt just about any business model so you can use it to make money online. The key is choosing the business model that’s right for you.

Exactly! “Whatever works best for you.” I think doing what you love is the best place to start. Take your hobby or skill set and run with it!

There’s nothing wrong with learning as you go because that’s how it happened for me.
I built my first website as a hobby and eventually it got noticed. I’ll never forget that first magic email asking about sponsorship, and so it began. That was 14 years ago… and it’s still going strong!

I never set out to make money online, but nowadays I have the pleasure of working from home, being my own boss, and have even been able to start two retail businesses on the side that are directly related to the industry… all because of that first hobby site!

You can absolutely find your own path and make money online!

BTW – I have never once hired a consultant of any sort. LOL
