SEO Traffic: How to Keep Growing Your Blog Thanks To Search Engines
Tired of playing all those silly, time-consuming games trying to get more traffic from the search engines?
They really don’t work, do they?
Not for the long haul, anyway.
You know what they say…
Winners never cheat, and cheaters never win.
If you want to grow search engine traffic to your blog you need to play by the rules of SEO, and the rules are very simple…
Publish Fresh Content Frequently
Take a look at the January 2013 traffic report for Dukeo and you’ll see that in December of 2012 there were 32,843 unique visitors for a total of 65,145 page views. One month later, in January 2013, the results were staggering: 52,488 unique visitors for a total of 129,377 page views. That’s a 63 percent growth in unique visitors and page views nearly doubled.
What happened? I increased my posting frequency, publishing 10 fresh, new posts every day. And each new post increases the potential for visitors to find my blog through the search engines.
Additionally, each of those pages has the potential to attract that many more incoming links, which increases my link authority with Google. Higher link authority means higher index position which equals increased traffic from the search engines.
All of this additional, new content is also linking out to older posts in my archives, which helps increase stickiness and page views. But more important, Google also gives some value to your own internal links, which also helps with link authority.
There Are Only Three Things You Can Do To Quickly Grow Search Engine Traffic
Sure, there are plenty of bloggers out there who buy links or spam the Internet with content that contains their links, and I’m sure there are dozens of schemes that manipulate the system. But those links don’t last, and when they disappear, so does the link juice.
There are only three things you can do to legitimately grow your search engine traffic quickly:
Produce unique, valuable content
Here at Dukeo I talk about the same things that other bloggers in this niche talk about but I make my content unique by gearing it toward beginners who want to make money with, or because of, their blogs.
Because everything is explained in detail here, beginners are able to understand the information I’m presenting. They “get” my message and that means, to them, my content is valuable – because they actually learn from it.
More experienced bloggers might not find my content valuable because they already know the information I’m covering, but that doesn’t matter – I’m writing for MY readers, not someone else’s.
The more frequently you publish the faster your search engine traffic will grow. Like I said, I was publishing five posts each day. Be careful, though. Remember to only publish unique, valuable, high-quality content. Don’t push for five posts a day if you can only really produce three that fit the bill.
If you’re producing valuable content, that goes a long was toward encouraging your readers to share. When your content makes people sit up and take notice you don’t have to remind them to send a Tweet or share it on Facebook.
But give your readers a little nudge, anyway. Make sure you have sharing buttons prominently displayed. Better yet, put a call to action at the end of your best posts. Every pair of eyeballs you get on your page is another opportunity for an incoming link. And those links boost your posts up on the search engine indexes, which helps grow your traffic that much faster.
