Monthly Traffic Report – April 2011
Dukeo being a live case study, it’s important to keep track of traffic stats to follow the growth of this blog. I share the REAL stats of this website copied directly from Google Analytics.
Use these traffic reports to keep an idea of the kind of traffic you can generate over time when starting a blog from scratch, without leveraging any other web property.
Unique Visitors and Pageviews
Let’s start with some general data about this month traffic: unique visitors and pageviews. These two indicators are the most commonly used in web statistics. Every webmaster know how many unique visitors he is receiving monthly as well as the number of page impressions. Here is Dukeo’s data for this month:
As you can see, the number of pageviews is lower than previous month while the number of unique visitors grew of almost 40%. I suspect that being featured on Jonathan Volk’s blog last month (and having about 10 links to my blog in the post) had increased the number of pageviews/unique visitors beyond normal and it’s now back to realistic values.
As the number of unique visitors to Dukeo is steadily increasing and I am working on some guest posts for other blogs, we should see an increase in next month’s stats (I might be able to reach 150 unique visitors per day).
Here is a general overview of the sources where dukeo’s traffic has been coming from during the past month.
The big change of this month is that Direct Traffic and Referred Traffic switched percentages. There are two factors which had an impact on this metric:
- The referred traffic decreased because Dukeo has been featured on less blogs this month than it had been last month.
- Regarding Direct Traffic, the only explanation I see is that Dukeo’s brand and audience are getting bigger every month resulting in more people visiting the blog either by typing the domain name or through their bookmarks.
Top 5 Traffic Sources
Wondering what are the top 5 traffic sources of dukeo.com? Here comes the answer.
A new source entered the top 5 this month: Facebook. Thanks to a very clever tip that Shawn Collins gave me, I have been able to leverage more traffic from the social network. We should see more movement in the coming month since I’m planning to stop my advertising campaign with BuySellAds as it’s not bringing much valuable traffic to Dukeo.
