Make Money Blogging: 11 Ways To Earn From Your Blog
Show me a blogger who says he’s only in it for the warm, fuzzy feeling he gets helping people and I’ll show you a blogger who also holds a full-time job to keep the wolf away.
If you’re in it for the money, admit it.
And most important, do something about it.
There are about as many ways to monetize your blog as there are grains of sand on a beach. Use these alone or in combination to build a money-making blog so you can quit that job – and your whining.
1. Google AdSense
When the dust settles, Google AdSense is still one of the most popular methods for monetizing a blog, especially new blogs that don’t have a big following yet.
While you’re building up your traffic and learning what your audience is looking for, put AdSense ad blocks on your blog and start making money right away.
2. Blog Sponsoring
Once you start hitting those larger traffic numbers consistently you’ll be able to attract direct advertisers, or blog sponsors, who are willing to pay to place an ad in your sidebar or at the foot of each post.
There are also sponsors who pay big bucks for product reviews. Note: Make sure you follow disclosure rules.
Yes, it’s true that Amazon commissions on each sale are laughable, however, the key word is “on each sale.” Send your visitor to Amazon using your Amazon affiliate link and you earn a commission on everything they buy – not just the product you’re recommending.
And since Amazon is the Number One shopping site on the Web, those “laughable” commissions quickly add up.
4. Affiliate Programs
These days you’ll find an affiliate program for just about any product you can think of. Almost every manufacturer has their own affiliate program and there are dozens of reputable networks to choose from, too.
5. Create Your Own Products And Services
From the very first day you launch your blog you should be thinking about creating your own unique products and building your own brand.
The possibilities are limitless and your products can be physical, digital, service-oriented, or a combination of all three.
6. Blog Networks
It only makes sense that the more blogs you have the more money you’ll make, but it also takes a lot of time and hard work to run multiple blogs.
Join blogging networks and all you have to do is, well, blog.
7. Writing Opportunities
Over the years I’ve been involved in several very profitable online blogging relationships. As more and more businesses realize the value of having a blog, they’re looking for people who understand SEO and online content creation. If you have a successful blog, then obviously you’re the type of person they’re looking for.
It’s old-hat but in some cases it does still work. Put a donation button on your blog. Every little bit helps. Be aware, though, that no matter what niche you’re in you’ll have plenty of competition. If you expect people to “pay” to read your content, then you’ll have to give them something worth paying for.
9. Blog Flipping
Buy a domain name, build a blog, and sell it. There’s a huge market for high-quality blogs. If you have a successful blog or two in your inventory, make sure they’re neat and tidy and head on over to Flippa.com. Who knows? Domain names are online Real Estate. You might be the next Donald Trump.
I can always tell when I’ve visiting a successful blog because they have T-shirts with their logo for sale in the sidebar. If you’re getting some good traffic and you have a loyal following, head over to Zazzle.com and start branding your own merchandise. It’s free and you don’t have to stock or ship anything.
The possibilities here are endless. I have a friend who’s a psychology teacher and she’s interested in the mythology of vampires. She visits local libraries and gives free presentations about vampires to anyone who’s interested and her book sales are phenomenal.
I have another friend who uses libraries to teach people how to set up a basic blog and she attracts at least one new coaching client every time. If you’re not interested in venturing out into the “real” world yet, you can use Skype or webinars to coach people online.
Right now, some of these possibilities might seem pretty daunting but trust me, the more you learn about blogging the easier it is to visualize how these methods can help you make money with your blog.
So if you’re not quite ready to bump Donald Trump out of his office yet, don’t worry.
You will be – and sooner than you think.
