Dukeo’s Second Anniversary! OMG, Already?!

By Sté Kerwer to About

It’s hard to believe, but Dukeo is already 2 years old…

When you are running a successful blog like Dukeo, I think it’s essential to take a step back on a regular basis to analyze your results, see what worked and what didn’t, then set goals for the upcoming year.

This is exactly what this post is about: taking a little time to write about what happened in my personal life in the past 12 months, and give some key numbers about Dukeo’s 2 years blog life.

You can use this data as a reference for your own blog.

second anniversary

Personal Life

On a personal level, the past 12 months have been very exciting. I moved from Paris, France to Hong Kong. Being here allowed me to travel to several asian countries such as Philippines and Indonesia. Along the way, I met a LOT of new people and I had to work on my English skills (Like it or not, English IS the universal language).

I lived in 4 different places since I arrived here: an hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui East, a serviced apartment in Fortress Hill, a shared apartment in Sai Ying Pun and a serviced apartment in Central.

While it’s very exciting to keep moving all the time, it’s also extremely exhausting.

I’m planning to find a place where I’ll be staying for at least 12 months in a row (big challenge for me since I love traveling).

Blogging Life

Running Dukeo is a very demanding experience.

Blogging is NOT a “get rich quick” scheme. It requires a lot of hard work and dedication to build an audience and create a relationship with readers.

You should also keep in mind that running this blog is just a part of my business and clearly not the most interesting one money-wise, but I’m thinking long-term with this project, so I keep investing more and more time to make it grow.

In the 2 years of Dukeo, I have published a total of 1,384 posts: that’s an average of 1.89 posts per day. Of these, 889 posts were published on the second year of Dukeo. It’s hard to believe that I was able to post over 2.42 posts per day for the past 12 months.

And these 1,384 posts received a total of 6,561 comments: that’s 4.74 comments per post. This number is not really fantastic, but don’t forget that in the early months of Dukeo, I posted a LOT of content that received almost 0 comments.

During this second year, Dukeo has been serving 422,969 Pageviews to 196,751 Unique Visitors. Compared to its first year, that’s a 281,53% increase in Pageviews and a 314.64% increase in Unique Visitors.

This is quite interesting to multiply traffic by 4 in a year, but I plan to do even better with Dukeo’s third year.

When you’re doing your blog promotion the right way, there is some kind of snowball effect: once you reach a certain size, the traffic starts growing on its own.

That’s exactly what’s been happening to Dukeo in the past 3 months.

It looks like I was able to reach some kind of Tipping Point and things have been growing even faster from this point on.

Since I’m starting to get a decent number of monthly pageviews, I’m thinking of putting some advertising banners on my pages.

Don’t freak out, I’m not going to turn Dukeo into a Christmas tree, and my goal is always to provide good content in a clear manner, so it shouldn’t be too intrusive.

It might be an interesting experiment to see what kind of income it will bring without any additional work.

Thank you!

I’d like to use this opportunity to give a huge thank you to all of Dukeo’s readers for helping this blog grow. Dukeo wouldn’t be where it is right now if you weren’t here.

Once again, thank you! Let’s go for another (even more) successful year!
