Dukeo’s First Anniversary! Did I Reach my Goals?
Can you believe it?! Dukeo is already 1 year old!
I’m having trouble realizing that I started this blog project 1 year ago on January 29th… Months have been passing way too fast.
It’s now time to take a step back and look at what I’ve been able to achieve in the past 12 months.
Affiliate Marketing Goal Review
First of all, let’s talk money! One of my goals with affiliate marketing for the past year was to hit $500k. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a few campaigns which completely crushed it and I was able to scale them to reasonable numbers, this led me to hitting my goal over a month before due date!
Let’s review this goal for the upcoming year: my goal for this second year is to hit at least $1.5Mil.
Blogging Goal Review
The good news is that I’ve been able to keep up with my posting schedule of at least 1 post per day, every single day, and I was even able to double that number in the past few months. All this while still managing my affiliate campaigns and piling up a decent amount of cash.
In terms of income, I wasn’t able to hit my goal with Dukeo and only made around $3k in the past 12 months from this blog. To be honest, the goal was probably not realistic, expecially since this blog is only a side project and most of my time is taken to work on affiliate campaigns…
Regarding traffic, the growth has been more slow than I expected, but it was still quite steady over the year. During its first year, Dukeo served 111,194 pageviews to 47,630 unique visitors.
Search engines were the biggest source of traffic of this blog and they brought 39.47% of the traffic through 12,917 different keywords.
The second traffic source was referral traffic with 26.51% of the traffic. A special thank you goes to Affbuzz for bringing 1,822 visits to Dukeo in the past 12 months, surpassing the traffic coming from StumbleUpon (1,604) and Facebook (1,245), and only topped off by Twitter (2,025).
Seeing the current growth curve, Dukeo’s traffic should at least double in 2012. However, after analyzing data from Google Analytics, I decided to revise my posting schedule and stop publishing new content on Saturdays and Sundays since these are my lowest traffic days. Instead, I’ll focus on posting at least 2 new blog posts per day on weekdays.
I’d like to use this post to give a huge thank you to all of Dukeo’s readers for helping this blog grow. Dukeo wouldn’t be where it is right now if you weren’t there.
Once again, thank you! Let’s go for another (even more) successful year!
