Akismet’s Blacklist: How to Get Off of It

All internet marketers know that the border between White Hat and Black Hat can be very thin, and that there are many shades of Grey. A lot of these things can lead you to spots where you really don’t want to go. For example getting banned from Google Adwords, Ebay Partner Network or Facebook.

One of the things that can happen to you is appearing on email providers blacklists or Akismet blacklist. This is the problem I’ve been facing a few weeks ago. A friend of mine informed me that all my comments on his blog were being filtered by Akismet.

After doing a few tests on some of my own blogs, it appeared that the situation was the same everywhere.

You don’t have many resources if you want to get off Akismet’s Blacklist. After doing some research online, it appears that the only solution available is to contact Akismet.

Once you’ll have submitted your informations to Akismet there is nothing more to do but waiting until you hear from them. Hopefully they will get you off their blacklist. Until then go easy on commenting on other people’s blogs!

I have this exact problem, for some reason my comments are always going to spam (you have probably noticed it).
I had no idea you can contact Akismet to get off their blacklist.
    Thank you.

Well, there is still a problem. Akismet does not say how often they are removing sites from their Blacklist. Once you send them the email, there is nothing to do except waiting.

Or you can also contact other blog sites and ask them to take you off the spam list. If enough of them agree, Akismet will decide your not a spammer. Someone needs to start a group for this.

It sounds like an interesting idea, but I’m not sure it will change anything in the eyes of Akismet. I’ve been de-spamming some of my reader’s comments for months and yet they still always end up in spam.

Well, I’ll be testing this out shortly. It appears that I’m on some type of blacklist so I’m going to contact Akismet and just hope they can help. I love using the Akismet plugin but it sure stings when my own comments get automatically marked as spam!

I can confirm that you are on Akismet’s backlist. I had to un-spam your comment. Good luck with that!
